French-Armenian Volunteer’s Experience in KorniTun
February 19, 2024
What does it look like to spend one month volunteering in Kornidzor with All For Armenia?
What does it look like to live in a border village, in AFA’s KorniTun community home?
Our French-Armenian volunteer Matthias Hekimyan spent all of January in Kornidzor village, hosting martial arts and language classes for local children, delivering humanitarian aid, and, most importantly, creating lifelong bonds with the local community. Check out this video he created that captures his unforgettable experience, and read his reflection below (translated from French):
“KorniTun quickly became a landmark for me. The experiences I had, the moments of sharing, and the feeling of being at home — that’s really what describes it best. Everything you experience in this village and at KorniTun is the best way to immerse yourself in the culture and partake in moments you’ll never forget: playing nardi with the neighbors, drinking tea with the locals you invite to KorniTun as you pass them on the street, taking English and Karate classes with the kids…
As I said to Matthieu, co-founder of the organization, the experience at KorniTun is something you can’t really imagine before you live it yourself. It’s thanks to All For Armenia that all of this is possible, so thank you to all the people who welcomed me and made this an unforgettable experience.
This is just the beginning…”
